module 16 reflection

Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting:

1. What were you expectations for this course and where they met?  To learn something about art since I knew absolutely nothing.

2. Now that you've been through this course, What is art? How would you define it now compared to your intial posting?  Art is everything  it shapes our world--it can be ugly, beautiful, raunchy, an individual can read a painting or art piece different depending on what the person sees or feels

3. Who was your favorite artist in your original posting and who is your favorite visual artist now?  didnt really have one and now I like Monet from visiting at the museum and seeing the different paintings  If there is a difference, why do you think so? If you have the same favorite artist, why do you think so?  don't have the same artist since I didn't know anything about him.  Still don't know to much about different artist but learning to read some of the colors in paintings was really fascination

4. Now that you've completed this course, how do you feel about taking an online course?  I actually feel more comfortable taking an on line class this was my first one and I must say I had many challenges.  This semester was really hard for me considering we had a baby and all well my wife did not be.  that is an art form itself and she is wonderful and beautiful  Is your answer the same as it was in your first posting? How is it the same or different?  Not the same at all actually  much better all though I did fall behind.  Really loved the class though   Going to vacation in Atlanta in Sept and I am deff gonna check out at least 1 of the main galleries their.
I have added a new pic of the new baby  hope all enjoy and have a great summer  Life is precious don't wast it

 2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait?  It was the easiest for me to draw with kind of made it cartooned
3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them? my chest and face  it was a rough sketch
4. How does this piece represent you?  this represents me and actually I thought it came out really well considering I have absolutely no background in art whats so ever

Module 13/14 Blog Reflection for Project 4

The name of my theme was Life is Not Promised, Death Is is based off of something I totally believe in. As people some times we take for granted that we have life when in actuality Life is not Promied, but Death Is. I picked pictures that with my eyes are picking out the life or death concept for each of them. I hope that I did this assignment correctly. With the last slide it may be difficult for some to understand why I did this but it is still a form of art for anyone who helps reflect, represent and honor the day we had so many people in our country die in one day. No one knew of this tragidy just as no one knows of any death that is going to occur. Is the Grim Reaper real? Does he stand over us and watch us to take our soul and give us death? So many times in the videos and articles reviewed this semester artists talk about bringing to life paintings and painting what is in a persons soul. Death can be something that people feel or want to experience and paint through a picture or statue.

Video review for Monduel 13/14

Moduel 13 and 14

Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting:

1.For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.  Three separate concepts of art for Tate Modern gallery that includes the weather project  with live exhibits, Acquiring mind I have been to NYC many times and will still go may more times and will deff visit some of the  museums since I have never been into art but now that I have learned the beginings of it I am going to explore at least one art gallery per city I go to each year for vacation., and lowbrow is nakedness and many bright colors

2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.

I felt that the videos helped to define the importance of a theme when it comes to having a well-defined exhibition.  All of the videos gave different concepts but delivered the message.  They included examples which were helpful like monuments, sculptures and paintings.  This helped with the interpretation of art and developing a theme.

3.What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?  I really enjoyed the film and it helped with my decision of finding the  images I chose.  It helped with defining an art concept a little more for me since I have been cramming for the past 3 weeks with all classes I was relieved to have some assistance from the videos

Artist is Monet

Bathers at LA Grenouillere

Oil

Year 1869

This painting actually reminds me of the train station in Chicago.  Not only by pictures I have seen but actually from being there before.  It has an opening that is large like in the picture with many different tracks.  All though there are not people walking across the tracks like in the painting that was my first thought when I saw it.  The blue open skies with white blotches can be clouds but also like how the darker blue by the train represents the steam coming from the train as it is pulling into the station.  It brings balance and distinctiveness to the painting to see the liveliness of motion.

Monet, 'The Water-Lily Pond', 1899

Artist Monet

The Water-Lily Pond

Oil

Year 1899

This painting says to me getting married and taking pictures in such a beautiful surrounding.  The beautiful moss hanging from the trees with many different greens to accent the lilies and the bushes coming up from the water.  The whites pinks and purples give an appeal of the flowers and the lilies floating on the water with also enough color whites, browns and greens on the bridge to show the reflection and hint of reflection from sunlight rather than having just a solid colored bridge it shows the definition and reflection in the railings and definition of the wood

Monet, 'Lavacourt Under Snow, about 1878-81

Artist Monet

Snow Scene at Argentueil

Oil

1875

This painting is beautiful structure of snow after a winter storm.  I love how you see the snow in clumps just as if you were looking out a window and see the depth of the snow in different spots as the snow goes into the lake to the left with the dingy still sitting in probably the frozen water.  The look of snow on the roofs of the homes lots of blues, greens, and greys in the distance you can see the mountain with light browns used for trees in the distance along the edge of the mountain at the bottom.

What did you think of visiting the Gallery and purposefully looking at the exhibition from a different perspective - the physical space, the architecture, theme, etc.?

The walls that hold the artwork act as a blank canvas a background for the paintings.  All the gallery is clean and simple for not to take away from any of the artwork or draw attention away from any of it.  You really honestly don’t look at anything else except the artwork unless other wise asked to for maybe a class or observance techniques.  Pieces of each artists is kept together and makes it easier to see the differences and what is so special about each artist and piece of art.
